Khan Muzzard Ram was a Waziri clan chieftain. In 1938, the bandit Aqbik kidnapped archaeologist Sophia Hapgood, and offered her to him as a bride. Khan Muzzard Ram was disgusted by the woman's defiance however, and instead offered her as the prize of the Buz Kashi.
Indiana Jones entered the race in disguise and won, while Hapgood was freed by Patar Kali. Upon realizing this, Khan Muzzard Ram ordered his men to attack them when Kali triggered an explosion with dynamite, killing several of the bandits, and the three made their escape.
