"Right now, I'm looking at the disappearance of my sister. And I believe Emmerich Voss is responsible."

Biography[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle follow.

Early life[]

From Italy, Laura Lombardi was born on February 14, 1893.[2] She became an older sister eight years later with the birth of Ginetta ("Gina").[3] Growing up, where Gina would become a journalist, Laura acquired a doctorate and established herself as the world's foremost expert on dead ancient languages in the estimation of American archaeologist Indiana Jones. At some point, Laura was the lover of Dame Nawal Shafiq-Barclay, an Egyptian shipping magnate whose philanthropic efforts supported archaeology but circumstances saw them drift apart despite their feelings for each other.[2]

Search for the Great Circle[]

Around March 1937, whether by choice or coercion, Dr. Laura Lombardi was brought onto the Third Reich Special Antiquities Collection's research into the power behind the Great Circle by Nazi archaeologist Emmerich Voss. About two months later, she was with the expedition on board the KMS Kummetz after studying the Adamic writing at Machu Picchu, Peru – one of seventeen sites around the world through which the Great Circle ran – when their experiment on a relic teleported the entire Nazi battleship and its crew into the Himalayas. Stranded and refusing to reactivate its powers to keep it away from Voss, Dr. Lombardi succumbed to the cold along with the other survivors of the event.[2]

Legacy[]

Unaware of her fate, Laura's sister Gina eventually went looking for her missing sibling. By late October, Gina came to believe that Voss had something to do with her disappearance and through a chance encounter, teamed up with the archaeologist's American rival Indiana Jones who had also been pulled into the Great Circle's mystery.[2]

Over a week into their search, they found the ship hidden in the mountains. Gina stumbled upon Laura Lombardi frozen to death amongst the crew and Jones was on hand to support her in her anguish.[2]

When Gina and Jones eventually went their separate ways, Gina departed on one of Dame Nawal's planes which was named Laura.[2]

Personality and traits[]

Just like Indiana Jones, Laura Lombardi always believed in science.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Laura Lombardi was voiced by Elisa Proeitti in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.[2]
