A football-playing letterman from Marshall College was present at Arnie's Diner in 1957 when Mutt Williams sucker punched "Joe College". The act was a catalyst for a fight which pulled in many of the diner's patrons. When the lettermen and the greasers confronted each other, this letterman stood in the first row. He then joined the fray, sticking up for his fellow college students.[1]
