Lhasa is the capital and main city in Tibet and is the center of Tibetan Buddhism.

Cheng operated out of Lhasa during World War I.

In 1936, Indiana Jones and Marcus Brody traveled through Lhasa on their way to find Francis Beresford-Hope and his piece of the key to the Tomb of the Gods. In Lhasa, Jones and Brody learned that Beresford-Hope lived in a cave and frequently came to the town to purchase supplies including ammunition and beer.
