This German lieutenant was part of the convoy escorting the Ark of the Covenant from Tanis to Cairo. He rode in the troop car with Gobler and his gunner. He was killed when Indiana Jones forced them off a cliff.

• The role of this officer in Raiders of the Lost Ark is played by stuntman Reg Harding.
• This character only appears in the filmed version of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Toht rides in his place in both the script and novelization.
