Lou Gehrig was a baseball player for the New York Yankees. He was a solid clean-up batter, and Short Round and his brother Chu had often argued whether Gehrig or Jimmy Foxx was the stronger player in that role.
Short Round later apologized for these debates to Big Short Round, whom he regarded as the reincarnation of his lost brother.
In the video game Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis he was mentioned by Omar Al-Jabbar on the Team Path when he sell to Indy a baseball with Lou's signiture.
