Luigi was an Italian soldier during World War I.
Biography[]
In 1917, Luigi worked together with American spy Indiana Jones. Whenever Indiana (posing as a German soldier) had to cross over from the German side to the Italian side of the front, it was Luigi's job to pretend to shoot at him, creating the illusion that Indiana was a German soldier attempting to attack and break through the Italian lines (and not a deserter). However, wanting it to look real, Luigi would shoot as close to Indiana as he could (almost taking his toes off), much to the frustration of Indiana (who labeled Luigi and idiot).[1]
When Indiana helped German deserters across the German lines (and to the Italians), Luigi made better use of his shooting skills, by him (and other Italian soldiers) supplying Indiana and the deserters with firearms support and cover against other German soldiers attempting to shoot the fleeing deserters. Luigi and the other soldiers then welcomed the German deserters with open arms, when they came to the Italian side.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Luigi was portrayed by the late Italian actor Eduardo Cuomo in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles episode "Northern Italy, June 1918", later edited into Tales of Innocence.[1]
