Macedonia is a region of Greece. Its principal city is Thessalonike.
In the time of ancient Greece it was an independent kingdom, which produced the famous conqueror Alexander the Great. Ancient Macedonian artifacts along with those of many other ancient cultures, were taken to the temple of Akator and became part of its repository.
In modern times, after the dissolution of the neighboring country of Yugoslavia, a bordering state took the name Macedonia.
