Malaria is a serious and occasionally fatal disease caused by a parasite that commonly infects a mosquito that feeds on human blood, causing people high fevers, shaking chills and flus as common symptoms.
In January 1917, during World War I, several of the French soldiers serving under Colonel Pernod had gotten sick with malaria, forcing Pernod to refuse to send any spare men to assist his fellow Belgian forces in escorting a shipment of machine guns and other arms to German East Africa.[1]
In 1934, it was discovered a cure for malaria.[2] One year later, a malaria epidemic had started ravaging Ceylon, Asia.[3] It wasn't until 1944 that, with a perfection of Quinine, the cure for malaria became available.[4]
