Mei Ying's father originally wanted his daughter to marry a banker who had a nice house, but Mei Ying preferred to serve her country. In 1935, however, after her traumatic possession at Kong Tien's hands during her attempts to stop Kai Ti Chang from claiming the Heart of Darkness with the help of American archaeologist Indiana Jones, she briefly lamented not having married the suitor as she could have avoided such experience.[1]
