- "Ahhh - snake surprise."
- ―Merchant 1[src]
Merchant #1 attended the Guardian of Tradition Dinner at Pankot Palace in 1935.
Biography
The merchant was a large mustachioed obese man who wore lots of jewelry which Willie Scott kept trying to discreetly snatch from him at the table. The merchant was delighted when they were served "Snake Surprise".
Behind the scenes
Merchant 1 was played by Ahmed El-Shenawi, but the film credits the role to the Merchant 2 late actor Frank Olegario.[1]
During the development of the film's script, written by Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz, the Merchant 1 was originally meant to not exist in the story, leaving his fellow as the only merchant present at the scene.
