When the Nazi U-boat Wurrfler intercepted the ship, the Messenger Pirate was on the main deck along with the his captain and the rest of the crew. When Katanga prevented Ravenwood, caught by the Nazis, from hitting Colonel Herman Dietrich, the messenger and crew laughed. After the Nazis took Ravenwood and the Ark of the Covenant back to the submarine, the pirate was ordered by Katanga to find Jones, who was also hidden on the ship.
He reported back to his captain that he couldn't find Jones aboard. When Katanga told him to keep looking, the pirate glanced across to the U-boat, and pointed out Jones swimming over to the German submarine and climbing aboard. All the crew celebrated Jones' action.
Behind the scenes
In LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, the Messenger Pirate, as the "First Mate", has the distinction of being the only crew member from the film besides Katanga who appears on the Bantu Wind. In portable version of the game, the character is equal to Katanga. In the sequel, however, the Messenger Pirate is absent along with the Bantu Wind's crew. Instead, Katanga controls the entire ship himself.
