Minos was the king of Crete and a son of Zeus.

Behind the scenes[]

In Greek mythology, Minos was the first king of Crete, born following an affair between the Phoenician princess Europa, and Zeus, the king of the gods (who had impregnated Europa in the form of a bull). Minos ordered the construction of the Labyrinth at his palace at Knossos, which was the home of the vicious half-bull Minotaur.

The Phrygian king Midas is erroneously conflated with the legend of Minos in the comic adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
