The Monkey Man was an informant hired by Nazi agents in Cairo in 1936. Monkey Man followed Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood's movements through the streets of Cairo with the aide of his pet monkey. After Marion's apparent death, Monkey Man follows Jones to the home of the old man whom Sallah believes can decipher the markings of the Headpiece to the Staff of Ra. While the serving boy is away from the kitchen, Monkey Man sneaks in and poisons a bowl of dates in an attempt to kill Indiana and Sallah. His plot is thwarted when his own pet monkey eats a date first, it's death revealing the plot to Sallah in the nick of time.
