Montezuma, or Moctezuma II, was the ninth ruler of the Aztec empire, reigning from 1502 to 1520.

In March 1916, during the Mexican Revolution, a newsreel reported on the arrival of US troops into Mexico with the headline "To the Halls of Montezuma!"[1]
In the mid 1930s, while searching for relics at Site R in the Mexican town of Lucasio, Indiana Jones found the Snake Pendant of Montezuma, which was believed to have belonged to Montezuma himself.[2]
