A German Escort Gunner was one of two present during an escort which took place in Western France, 1944.

Convoy Encounter[]

After the looting of the Nazi Stronghold in Besançon, a convoy was prepared for the German Gestapo Officer and his contemporary. The escort gunner was unaware that the Staff Car had been hijacked of its original driver and had been replaced by an American Spy, the convoy proceeded.

A mile or so from the burning castle the first sign of an issue arouse as the Staff Car veered away from his and the other escorting Motorbike & Sidecar down the N83, a completely different road as to which the convoys route was planned on. Quickly realizing this action, the escort vehicles driver along with the other escorting vehicle chased the staff car down via a shortcut down a grassy embankment in an attempt to catch up with the staff car.

The two escorting Motorbike & Sidecars soon caught up, and the escort driver took the left flank of the staff car, as the other escort vehicle took the right in attempt to signal the presumed Staff Car Driver to stop. This proved to be a costly error as the now revealed OSS Spy thrashed the staff car into the other escort vehicle, which in turn crushed it against the mountain side causing it to flip therefore killing the Driver & Gunner. Seeing this his partner accelerated his vehicle with the gunner pointing his pistol at Jones, in quick succession the archaeologist leaped from the staff car onto his vehicle, attacking him.

The small fight eventually led him to be thrown off the vehicle, whom in quick-succession was ferociously crushed under the staff cars wheels, which left his partner as the soul survivor of the original convoy.
