Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya, located in the south central part of the country. It was founded in 1899 as a rail depot, but grew and became the capital of British East Africa in 1907. It stayed the capital when the country became independent of Britain in 1963.
In September 1909, after arriving at Mombasa and a quick stop at Richard Medlicot's coffee plantation, the Jones family (Henry, Anna, their son Henry, Jr.) and his tutor Helen Seymour, took a train towards Nairobi on their way to join the Theodore Roosevelt safari encamped at the Kirinyaga safari camp.[1]
In 1931, Indiana Jones flew to Nairobi from Barcelona via Tripoli. Procuring a jeep, he headed out towards Mombasa to find the lost palace of Ali Bey, not knowing that he was racing against several competitors in the quest for the Invincible Ruby.[2]
