The National Revolutionary Army (NRA; 國民革命軍) was the military arm of the Kuomintang (KMT, or the Chinese Nationalist Party) from 1925 until 1947 in China during the Republican era. It also became the regular army during the KMT's period of party rule beginning in 1928. It battled with Chinese Warlord forces and the Japanese Imperial Army during the Warlord Era, Second Sino-Japanese War and during World War II.

In 1935, Indiana Jones met Marshal Kai Ti Chang and his assistant Mei Ying who hired him to recover the Mirror of Dreams find enter the Emperor's Tomb. Kai was secretly the head of the Black Dragon Triad and he had made an alliance with the Nazis so he could recover the Heart of the Dragon and take over China for himself. Mei Ying was a spy for the KMT and was spying on Kai. She gained the assistance of Indy in stopping Kai and his ally Colonel Albrecht von Beck from finding the Heart.[1]

In 1938, Chiang Kai-Shek was attempting to unify all of China under his rule, gaining the admiration of Indiana Jones who believed he was a hero, Chiang took control of warlord U Paw's province, earning her enmity. U Paw kidnapped Indiana Jones during her siege of the city Chanri-Ha and he travelled with her for some time. At one point, they stopped a train containing Revolutionary soldiers led by Captain Lao-Tsing in the Szechwan region. The Captain hoped to put an end to U Paw's bandit army so met with her at gunpoint and hoped to take her and her forces, including Indiana Jones as prisoners. Undaunted, she shot Lao-Tsing in the head, killing him, and her forces opened fire on his men, who quickly surrendered to her.[2]
