- "Brethren and sisters of the Order, born from darkness into light, devoted to the holiest endeavour — the Great Reclamation."
- ―Augur the Giant[src]
The Nephilim Order was a secret monastic society of giants formed by alleged descendants of fallen angels who had corrupted God's creation and brought down the Great Flood to cleanse the Earth.
Survivors of the deluge looking to atone for their role in inviting divine judgment upon the world moved to protect the power of the Great Circle from discovery and misuse. Tens of thousands of years later, after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the giants swore allegiance to Saint Peter during the establishment of the Christian Church and worked with clandestine forces within the Vatican to secure the seventeen stones used by Noah to initiate the flood.

Brother Locus, member of the Nephilim Order.
According to legend, the Nephilim Order was founded by a tribe of giants, the alleged descendants of fallen angels (also called demons) who had survived the Great Flood and sought to atone for their role in causing the deluge. Once guardians among the Ancient Egyptians, the order swore loyalty to Saint Peter following the Crucifixion of Jesus during the founding of the Christian Church, initially protecting early Christians from Roman persecution then operated alongside the Vatican for centuries all while trying to protect the mystery behind the Great Circle: Noah's Ark, the apparent vessel gifted to Noah by God, as only someone worthy in God's eyes could use the vessel's stones to create portals to anywhere across the globe.[1]
By October 1937, the Nephilim Order became aware of the Nazi Party's interest in the Great Circle, led by the efforts of the Third Reich Special Antiquities Collection agent Emmerich Voss, who aimed to uncover the Circle's mystery to further Adolf Hitler's occult research program. One of the Nephilim tried to protect the Sunsparker Relic in Giza, Egypt, but Colonel Viktor Gantz and his Wehrmacht forces subdued, captured and ultimately killed him. Knowing that the Cat Mummy stored the Bearer Relic in Marshall College in Bedford, Connecticut, Brother Locus broke into the college and retrieved it, but his theft alerted the American archaeologist Indiana Jones' attention, who traveled to the Vatican to retrieve the statue and got himself entangled with Italian journalist Gina Lombardi in the quest for the Great Circle's mystery against Voss.[1]
It wasn't until the following month in Sukhothai, Siam that Locus alerted Jones and Lombardi about his true intentions, but by then, Voss had retrieved all the stones and captured Lombardi with the assistance of the Royal Italian Army while Jones and Locus escaped. They would later go to rescue Lombardi in Ur, Iraq, where Voss uncovered Noah's Ark and tried to use it to perform blitzkriegs over the world, but his natural unworthiness triggered a second Great Flood. Knowing what to do, Locus steered Noah's Ark into a portal and sailed the vessel out of mankind's reach.[1]

Behind the scenes[]
- "One of the most satisfying parts of developing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was the opportunity to create the Nephilim Order, the secret society of giants formed by descendants of fallen angels working to atone for their ancestral sins. That story spans thousands of years and this DLC has given us the opportunity to develop further upon their lore and look at other aspects not covered in the initial story campaign. There’s something new and unexpected to tell here for fans of the game, and we can’t wait for people to be able to play it for themselves."
- ―Indiana Jones and the Great Circle production director John Jennings on the Nephilim Order's origins and the DLC that fleshes them out.[src]
The Nephilim Order first appeared in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, an invention for the video game.[1] A DLC story expansion for Great Circle titled "The Order of Giants" has been announced for the game.[2] Production director John Jennings cited the Nephilim Order's creation for Great Circle as one of the project's most satisfying parts during development so given how their story spanned thousands of years, the DLC allowed them the opportunity to further develop their lore and look at other aspects of their backstory not covered in the game's initial story campaign. The DLC will also see Indiana Jones confront the legacy of the surviving Nephilim.[3]
