Nicholas Flamel was a successful French alchemist. Flamel and his wife, Perenelle allegedly decoded enough of an ancient book to successfully transmute enough gold to endow fourteen hospitals, three chapels and seven churches.
It was said that Flamel and his wife never died. In 1761, the pair were said to be seen attending an opera in Paris when they would have been over four hundred years old. In 1933, an elderly couple named Nicholas and Perenelle assisted archaeologist Indiana Jones, and were familiar with his work.
