The Nobel Peace Prize was a set of annual international awards bestowed in several categories by Swedish and Norwegian institutions in recognition of academic, cultural or scientific advances. It was named after Alfred Nobel, inventor of dynamite.[1][2]

In 1905, Theodore Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize.[3]
In 1953, Albert Schweitzer won the Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of "Reverence for Life" before using his position to campaign against nuclear weapons and testing.[4]
