The Nobel Prize for Literature was a set of annual international awards bestowed in several categories by Swedish and Norwegian institutions in recognition of authors from any countries who produced "outstanding work in an idealistic direction". It was named after Alfred Nobel, inventor of dynamite.[1][2]
