Behind the scenes
The plane's callsign OB-CPO is an inside joke aimed at Star Wars fans ("OB" refers to Obi-Wan Kenobi and "CPO" refers to C-3PO). Nods to the Lucasfilm Ltd. sci-fi franchise would continue in subsequent Indiana Jones works.
The real life aircraft that was used in Raiders of the Lost Ark was a Waco Aircraft Company UBF-2. The plane sits on display near the Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull theme park attraction at Disneyland Tokyo.
