Count Ottokar Czernin was an Austrian Count and Foreign Minister to Emperor Karl I.
Biography[]
In 1917, during the First World War, Czernin was Foreign Minister to Emperor Karl I of Austria. After French Intelligence officer, Indiana Jones brought in Princes Xavier and Sixtus of Bourbon-Parma to Vienna, Austria to sign a secret treaty with France and Britain.[1] After the Emperor wavered before signing the treaty, Czernin drafted a document that would have allowed the Austrians to deny knowledge of the treaty in the event that the German Kaiser learned of it.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Ottokar Czernin was played by Christopher Lee in the "Austria, March 1917" episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, later re-edited into Adventures in the Secret Service.[1] Lee also played Count Dooku in George Lucas's Star Wars prequel trilogy.
