Indiana Jones Wiki

Around 1957, a Painter in Marshall College coveralls was just finishing up carefully adding Indiana Jones' new title of Associate Dean to the archaeologist's office door when Dean Charles Stanforth ran past to retrieve a Book of Common Prayer. He stopped briefly to commend the painter's efforts then requested that the letters be larger before moving on, much to the worker's private exasperation.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The painter, named as such in David Koepp's screenplay,[2] was uncredited in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The gag that the man is complimented only to have to start his work all over again was a later addition to the story,[1] with Stanforth merely directing him to continue the work when the dean's presence stalls him.[2]
