Indiana Jones has encountered parrots a few times in his adventures.

Adventures with parrots[]

Scarlett-the-macaw

Scarlett, a parrot connected to the Adventure Society.

In 1934, A member of the Adventure Society found a Macaw in Central America named Scarlett. They discovered Scarlett near a snake den while attempting to investigate the crash of a supply plane, and after charming the bird with a flute, was able to bring the creature to live at Base Camp. According to Emily Balderdash's notes, Scarlett knew words in eleven languages.[1]

In 1936, while searching for the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors on Peru, the American archaeologist Indiana Jones and his party of Peruvian porters and guides found a huge macaw, gaudy as a fresh rainbow, who screamed out of the underbrush and winged into the trees, momentarily startling Jones.[2]

In 1939, Indy encountered a Boat Captain in Panama who owned a red parrot.[3]

In the same year, Indy encountered a talkative green parrot on a tree near Dr Charles Sternhart's stand in Tikal, Guatemala. The parrot was very knowledgeable about Ancient Greece, even knowing that orichalcum was the power of Atlantis. When Indy said the word title to it, the parrot helpfully announced that Hermocrates was a friend of Socrates, giving Indy the name of the Lost Dialogue of Plato.[4]
