Pater Orlando Ricci.
Pater, translated to "Father", was the title of the leader of the revived Cult of Mithras from the early 20th century. By October 23, 1937, the position–which represented the seventh and highest grade of initiation–was held by Orlando Ricci, a Vatican City priest and occultist. Archaeologist Indiana Jones, who had met the man earlier that day, was neither impressed nor surprised to learn that Ricci had inserted himself at the top of the Mithraic ranks when he came across a list of the cult's membership.[1]
A Mithraic relic known as the Pater Artifact was named after the position.[1]
