The Pater Artifact was one of seven Mithraic relics which each represented, and was named for, a different initiation grade in the Cult of Mithras. The Pater, a ruby ring symbolizing the seventh and highest degree, was found by archaeologist Indiana Jones as he made his way through the bowels of Rome, Italy on October 23, 1937.
