Peru is a country in South America where the Inca Empire originated and was one of the largest empires of the ancient world. The capital of Peru is Lima, the largest and most important city in the country.

Peru is a mystic country. It's well known by travelers as "The Indiana Jones' country" because it has very rich pre-columbian cultures and several geographical zones. It's divided in three geographical areas: la Costa (the coast, which has a dry climate), la Sierra (the Andes) and la Selva (the Amazon Jungle, a world's biodiversity hotspot). Peru's territory was home to many pre-columbian cultures like Chachapoyas (in the jungle), Mochica, Paracas (the first craneal surgeons), Lambayeque (a nation with 25 pyramids) and Tiwanaku in the Titicaca lake (this ruins are older than the Inkas which has been sid was the capitol of Atlantis).

In 1935, Forrestal traveled to Peru to recover the Chachapoyan fertility idol and disappeared. The following year, Indiana Jones traveled to Peru to recover the idol and determine Forrestal's fate. After claiming the idol from the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors, Indy was forced to give it up to another competitor, René Belloq, and flee via amphibious plane.

Likewise, Chachapoyas culture has many ruins, the most studied is Kuelap, a fortress in Amazonas Department, in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle.

Indiana Jones returned to it in 1957, following clues by old colleague Harold Oxley. Oxley went there to locate a crystal skull, which he found in the lost tomb of Francisco de Orellana in a secret graveyard, along the Nazca lines.
