Petra is an ancient city in contemporary Jordan.
History[]
Petra was situated along the Great Circle. However, its mysterious stone concealed within an idol was discovered and looted. Forces for the Vatican claimed the relic during the Siege of Antioch and hid it away in their archive.[2]
Behind the scenes[]

The real Petra was used as location for the Temple of the Sun.
Petra was a filming location for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, with the site and Khasneh al Faroun representing the Canyon of the Crescent Moon and exterior of the Grail Temple, respectively.
During the development of the screenplay, Petra itself had been considered as the resting place of the Holy Grail for the story.[3]
