Petra is an ancient city in contemporary Jordan.
The site was situated along the Great Circle.

Petra was a filming location for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, with the site and Khasneh al Faroun representing the Canyon of the Crescent Moon and exterior of the Grail Temple, respectively.
During the development of the screenplay, Petra itself had been considered as the resting place of the Holy Grail for the story.[2]
