The Piranha is a species of carnivorous river fish native to South America.

Piranhas inhabited a river near the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors in Peru.[1]
Indiana Jones encountered these piranhas while searching for the Jeweled Chachapoyan Idol in 1947, he used his machete or guns to fend them off.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had a gag where a piranha bites Mutt Williams' finger as Indiana Jones and his companions float downriver in the aftermath of the Jungle Chase but it was cut from the finished picture.[3]
