Prospero's grandson was, to outward appearances, a young man but was reputed to be just over two hundred years old due to the effects of an Elixir of Immortality prepared by his far older grandfather who only referred to his progeny with a variety of insulting nicknames such as 'Dullard'.
Biography[]
Indiana Jones met Prospero's grandson in 1936 after saving him from a local lynch mob in the mountains near Devil's Cradle, an unusual rock formation that capped a summit on the eastern coast of the US. Fresh from his experience with the Ark of the Covenant, when the archaeologist learned that Prospero was capable of mixing a life-extending potion he asked to be taken to see him.[1]
In a cave with a spring beneath Devil's Cradle, Prospero chastised his grandson for bringing the man but explained to Jones that they traveled the world for locations with the unique water which held the properties to make the elixir that temporarily boosted strength in addition to lifespan. However, the process took six months and a local US army regiment was looking to destroy Devil's Cradle with a controlled explosion as it threatened to bring a landslide down onto their camp, a decision that would bury the spring instead.[1]
After finding out that Prospero intended to deliberately trigger the landslide onto the camp itself to deter discovery of the elixir, Jones got into fight with the old man who did indeed possess unusual strength and was knocked out. He recovered consciousness tied to Devil's Cradle above explosives and left to his fate then realized that Prospero's grandson had secretly cut Jones's bonds, allowing the archaeologist to get away.[1]
In the fallout, Jones ended up personally firing the army cannon that destroyed the spring to protect the soldiers, forcing Prospero and his grandson to move on and search elsewhere.[1]
