Saad Hassim was the biggest and richest antiquity dealer in Marrakesh, Morocco.[2]

In 1936, Hassim came into the possession of the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol after he bought it from the French mercenary René Emile Belloq at Marrakesh's museum of regional art.[3]

Hassim kept the golden artifact at his warehouse but he was killed by Ilsa Toht and Xomec, who planned to steal the idol from the shop. However, their efforts were intercepted by Indiana Jones and his friend Sallah, who escaped with the idol first.[1]
