In 1936, Saad Hassim had came into possession of the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol after he bought it from René Emile Belloq at Marrakesh's museum of regional art.[2]

Hassim kept the golden artifact at his warehouse but he was killed by Ilsa Toht and Xomec, who planned to steal the idol from the shop. However, their efforts were intercepted by Indiana Jones and his Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir who escaped with the idol first.[1]
