Sally was a British schoolgirl attended a botanical walk in the area around Glastonbury, England in March, 1945. Led by Miss Cheltingham, she and her classmates were guided around the school grounds near the Chalice Well, looking at specimens of night-blooming lousewort, hairy bittercress, and other examples of the local flora. When their class encountered a group of men, one of her classmates pointed out to Sally that there were some boys to be met - such as a handsome blond young man. While Miss Cheltingham began to continue her botanical teachings, Sally may have been aware of danger in the group of men - one of them, carrying a spear, drew a pistol on an older man. After a commotion when the pistol was fired and hit the spear, Sally may have panicked and run for safety, along with her classmates.
