Samantha Sterling was a member of the Adventurers Club and affiliate of Jock Lindsey.
History[]
Samantha Sterling was a cabaret singer and explorer during the early half of the 20th century. By 1928, she became a member of the Adventurers Club, a group of globe-trotters created by industrialist Merriweather Adam Pleasure of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. In 1928, she was the victor of the second-annual Balderdash Cup: a competition to see which club member had the best adventuring story.[1]
In the 1940s-1950s, she was amongst the members of the Adventurers Club who befriended S.E.A. member and aviator, Jock Lindsey. In 1955, they assisted Jock in converting his Disney Springs airplane hangar into Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar. Samantha was photographed with the Source Gazette newspaper at the ribbon cutting ceremonies and had several photos up in the bar depicting her as a patron.[2] Samantha would become a patron of the bar and the namesake of a cocktail at the nearby Edison bar.[3]
