Sartorio was a member of Father Orlando Ricci's revived Cult of Mithras secretly operating below Rome, Italy and had reached the sixth degree of initiation, the Heliodromus, by 1937.[1]

Sartorio was close enough to Father Cesare Ventura–the priest running the Vatican with the Pope having taken ill–that he learned that the priest was pursuing the cult's Pater in connection with a theft from the Vatican Museums. He was able to warn Ricci but the cultist leader got killed on October 23 as a consequence of manipulating archaeologist Indiana Jones into unlocking the Monster's Gate to the Tauroctony Chamber, which contained a sleeping giant.[1]

The Cult of Mithras

As Father Orlando Ricci is the only cultist whose identity is explicitly shown on-screen in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Sartorio could be any one or none of the masked non-player characters (NPCs) that are encountered in its DLC story expansion "The Order of Giants".[1]
