The Schutzstaffel or SS was a Nazi paramilitary organization, created by Adolf Hitler in the 1930s to protect him as his personal army and led by Heinrich Himmler.
The Ahnenerbe was a branch of the SS.
In 1938, Indiana Jones had run-ins with SS members during his search for the Holy Grail including Colonel Ernst Vogel, who Jones fought against atop a runaway Mark VII Tank in Hatay.
