Shia LaBeouf (born June 11, 1986 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor, performance artist, and filmmaker. He first starred in a movie in The Christmas Path (1998) at the age of 12.
Biography[]
LaBeouf made the transition to film roles with Holes (2003), a box office success; and supporting roles in I, Robot (2004) and Constantine (2005). Following LaBeouf's lead role in The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005), Spielberg encouraged his casting for the 2007 films Disturbia and Transformers. LaBeouf also played Jacob in New York, I Love You (2009, alongside co-star John Hurt).
In 2008, Shia LaBeouf played Mutt Williams in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He also wrote the foreword to James Luceno's book Indiana Jones: The Ultimate Guide, and hosted Cartoon Network's broadcast of LEGO Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Brick.
Director Steven Spielberg gave LaBeouf copies of Blackboard Jungle, Rebel Without A Cause and The Wild One to help inform the actor of the feel for the 1957 setting of Crystal Skull.[1]
Acting-wise, LaBeouf has cited John Turturro (whom he acted alongside in Transformers and who is the brother of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles actor Nicholas Turturro) as one of his inspirations.[2]
