Siwa is an oasis in Egypt and was one of several sites around the globe which lay along the Great Circle.
History[]
It was at Siwa where Alexander the Great was recognized as the son of Amun-Ra.[1]
In 1918, when Indiana Jones and his friend Remy Baudouin were looking for clues to Alexander's greatest triumph to uncover the location of the Peacock's Eye diamond, writer E. M. Forster mentioned the historic general's achievement at Siwa among other accomplishments, and Jones realized that deification had the to be the answer they sought.[1]
In Summer 1937,[2] a week before he was supposed to marry Marion Ravenwood,[3] Jones abruptly went on an expedition to Siwa, during which he uncovered a Cat Mummy. By the time he returned home to the US, his fiancée was no longer there, having left him.[2]
