Sophie von Hohenberg's locket was a pendant with a picture of Franz Ferdinand's daughter Sophie von Hohenberg inside.

History[]

Sophie von Hohenberg gave the locket to Indiana Jones, with whom she had a romantic interest, in 1908 as a parting gift. Jones gave her a snowglobe in return.[1]

Jones wore the locket as part of his usual attire until at least 1920,[2] and the pendant actually saved his life during World War I when it deflected a bullet aimed at his chest in 1916.[3]

He had fallen out of the habit of carrying it with him by 1935.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

The locket as seen in "Paris, September 1908".

Amalie Alstrup played Princess Sophie in "Paris, September 1908" (edited into The Perils of Cupid),[1] but when Indiana Jones takes a look at the photo of the princess in his locket in the episode "German East Africa, December 1916" (Oganga, The Giver and Taker of Life),[3] the face of the girl is not that of Alstrup, but that of the actual historical Princess Sophie, likely a consequence of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles episodes not being recorded in chronological order.

However, the picture of Sophie also flips position between episodes with the 1908 episode showing it situated on the left side of the locket, while the image in the 1916 episode lies on the right.
