St. Peter's Basilica (Italian: Basilica di San Pietro) is a church in Vatican City.

History[]

In October 1937, Nazi archaeologist Emmerich Voss moored his zeppelin over St. Peter's Basilica upon his arrival in the Vatican to retrieve the Holy See's collection of Great Circle artifacts. From the Sistine Chapel, Voss' American counterpart Indiana Jones and Italian journalist Gina Lombardi–disguised as a priest and a nun respectively–observed Prime Minister Benito Mussolini meeting with Voss alongside Father Cesare Ventura.[1]

Jones and Lombardi later scaled the basilica to follow Voss as he headed back to Giza, Egypt when Jones' pursuit was interrupted by Ventura and armed Fascists. However, the sudden appearance of Locus and a group of giants provided enough of a distraction that Jones was able to latch his bullwhip onto the departing zeppelin and get away.[1]

Unsurprised at seeing his old friend hanging from a dirigible, Father Antonio Morello simply wished Jones well.[1]
