The Adventures of Mutt is the theme music for Mutt Williams, composed in 2007 by John Williams for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In 2009, the John Williams received a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition for the piece.
The motif is an homage to the exciting and swashbuckling music prominent in the 1930's and 40's, and is particularly reminiscent of film score composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold. John Williams felt this was appropriate for the character, given his talents and abilities evoking those of Robin Hood and Tarzan.
The quick-paced and whimsical melody characterizes Mutt's daring qualities, as well as his youthful and bold, if somewhat rash, atitude. It also includes several brief but prominent usages of The Raiders March, the theme for Indiana Jones, who is his father.
The theme plays substantially three times in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull; twice, during the swordfight with Irina Spalko, and again during the ending credits. It can also be found as a suite on the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull soundtrack album.
