As a teen in 1916, Indiana Jones read about the heavy losses at Verdun in The New York Times.[1]
In 1934, the paper reported on the death of Evelyn Briggs Baldwin.[2]
In 1937, a wit-filled piece of writing appeared in The New York Times about Indiana Jones and a rajah. A Barnett College student named Lucy told her friend about the piece when her friend announced that she had gotten into Jones' "Archaeology 101" course.[3]
