Biography Edit

In 1936, a Nazi soldier was among the German presence stationed outside Cairo, Egypt at Tanis under Colonel Herman Dietrich and French archaeologist René Emile Belloq to search for the lost Ark of the Covenant.[1]

One afternoon, the soldier sat with his associates at a lunch table on the digsite. When he noticed two of the native workers walking past, he stood up and demanded water from the closest one who was actually American archaeologist Indiana Jones in disguise. After another Nazi sat at the table began yelling for the same, Sallah, the other worker and Jones' friend, quickly intervened and offered the soldiers water, giving Jones time to slip away which led to his discovering the captive Marion Ravenwood.[1]
