The Tower of Nicholas V (Italian: Torre di Niccolo V) forms part of the Apostolic Palace within Vatican City, the Holy See of the Catholic Church.
History[]
In October 1937, archaeologist Indiana Jones infiltrated the Vatican as part of an effort to reclaim a Cat Mummy stolen from Marshall College. Tracking the thief took Jones to the Tower of Nicholas V when inscriptions around the Holy See indicated that the site contained a way to access the city's catacombs. Inside, he encountered a chapel with a wall painting of the Holy Grail during the Last Supper, Longinus holding his Lance and an unusual mural depicting a demon vanquishing an angel which turned out to be a secret entrance to the "underworld" which, eventually, led the archaeologist to the Tomb of the Warrior Giant but the hunt for the missing cat continued.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Built in the 15th century, the present day Tower of Nicholas V (named for Pope Nicholas V) holds the Vatican Bank, founded in 1942 by Pope Pius XII.
