Tyke was a cowboy who was killed by Black Jack for breaking their code on six counts: for lying, stealing a horse, kidnapping a woman, being a coward, double-crossing a friend, and committing murder.
In 1920, Wyatt Earp narrated Tyke's story to director John Ford and his crew.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Wyatt Earp's anecdote in "Young Indiana Jones and the Hollywood Follies", set in 1920, appears to be based on a real-life Hollywood homicide from 1940 where Western actor Jerome Bonaparte "Blackjack" Ward shot and killed stuntman Johnny Tyke.
