Ulrich von Brockdorff-Rantzau was leader of the German delegation at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference following the Great War.
Biography[]
Outraged at the terms laid out for an Allied peace in the Treaty of Versailles, which included the admission that Germany was solely responsible for the Great War, Brockdorff-Rantzau refused to sign the document and, as the nation has no choice but to agree, the role went to someone else.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Brockdorff-Rantzau was played by Dutch actor Jeroen Krabbe in "Paris, May 1919".
