Vasco de la Posco was a (most likely) Spanish writer and traveller that visited the Incan royal tombs near Lake Titicaca, Peru, at some point during Spanish colonial rule in South America. He penned a description of the place and a map to find it in his diary, but apparently his work got lost after some time and the whole issue was considered a myth by scholars. The map was rediscovered by Felipe Uribe in 1937, who used it to track the Incan tombs in an attempt to revive the ancient Incan Empire.

Behind the scenes[]
The name contains a grammatical error: "Posco" (a fictional surname) is masculine, as it ends in O, but the article "la" is feminine. Therefore, they couldn't form part of the same surname, which should be either "de la Posca" or "del Posco".
