The Vatican Gardens form an extensive open space within Vatican City, the Holy See of the Catholic Church in Rome, Italy.
History[]
In late October 1937, taking advantage of the Pope's absence due to ill health, Prime Minister Benito Mussolini moved Fascist military forces into the Vatican as part of a plot for Nazi archaeologist Emmerich Voss to gain access to the secret archive and its collection of Great Circle artifacts. In the process, Blackshirt barracks were established on the edge of the Vatican Gardens, near the Belvedere Courtyard (as was an illicit boxing den).[1]
Chasing a stolen Cat Mummy and unaware of its greater significance,[1] Voss' American rival Indiana Jones passed through the Vatican Gardens in the October of '37.[2]
An eventful day, Jones was sidetracked when Father Orlando Ricci piqued his interest in an object tied to Pope Paul IV but the archaeologist's actions ended up disturbing an underground cult operating beneath Rome, Italy.[2]
