Indiana Jones Wiki

Willie was a colorful elderly gas station customer who struck up a conversation with Indiana Jones, about two decades his senior, in the early 1990s.

Biography[]

Willie drove Myrtle, a large, lifted blue truck adorned with a pin-up style painting of a woman on the door, named after his wife. Brash and good-natured, Willie proudly boasted about the truck's size and features, saying it was his teenage dream to drive "the hottest car in town".

The conversation led Indiana Jones to recount how, as a teenager, he fulfilled his own dream by taking Nancy Stratemeyer to the dance in an experimental electric car developed at Edison Laboratories. Though Willie initially dismissed the tale as far-fetched, he was charmed by Indy’s wit and invited him to take Myrtle for a spin—an offer Indy gladly accepted.

Behind the scenes[]

Willie was portrayed by Dick Latessa in the bookends of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles episode "Princeton, February 1916".[1]
